Nurturing, Friendly, Professional
In 1855 Dr John Propert established Epsom College to offer the sons of doctors an education that developed the whole character of a boy. Today the - now co-educational - College continues to celebrate the creative, physical and spiritual, as well as the intellectual. The values of our Founder prevail as our pupils are prepared for life beyond the College with an assured set of values and the belief that they can make a difference in society. At Epsom we want our pupils to live happy and fulfilled lives; to find a passion for things that matter to them, an interest in and respect for others and their worlds, the chance of challenge and achievement and an attachment to the ‘life of the mind’. Alongside our day pupils, our national and international boarders are welcomed into one of the College’s five Boarding Houses. Arichlife is provided for all boarders with a multitude of educational and co-curricular activities occupying the pupils. All boarders live and work together in an environment that fosters respect for individuality and the difference of others. At the head of each House are the Housemasters and Housemistresses with responsibility for the boys’ and girls’ pastoral wellbeing. In all Boarding Houses the Housemasters or Housemistresses live in the House with their families and this serves to nurture the relaxed and homely atmosphere that typifies Epsom’s strong boarding ethos.
