1. What is UKiset?
A c. 2.5‑hour online assessment covering English, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning.
How the report works:
Page 1: Vocabulary, Maths, and Reasoning — each scored out of 9 (the ideal profile is “9‑9‑9”).
Page 2: Cambridge English level, with “C1 or above” as the highest (followed by B2, B1, A2, A1).
Important context: fewer schools now require UKiset; for many, it is not a hard requirement.
2. Registration and test rules
Register only via the official UKiset website; the fee is £295, paid directly to UKiset.
Academic Asia is an authorised test centre and invigilates UKiset at no additional charge.
After booking, you can usually sit the test at Academic Asia within 1–2 days; results are typically released within 1–2 days.
Retake limits: once every four months (counted from your test date). Avoid casual or premature attempts.
3. Should you sit UKiset?
*Assess with our consultant first!*
Many school websites say “you may need UKiset”, “submit if available”, or list it as part of administration — which parents often interpret as mandatory.
In reality, most schools do not require it; and given Academic Asia’s strong relationships with UK schools, AA pupils may be granted waivers.
AA offers the free AATest, which serves a similar diagnostic purpose.
Recommended approach: speak to an advisor → confirm whether your target schools truly require UKiset → then choose timing and strategy.
4. Timing and risk management
Example: if you sit UKiset on a whim in mid‑July and score poorly, then face a 1 September deadline at a school that requires UKiset, the four‑month retake rule may block a timely resit — a missed opportunity.
Strategy:
Build a backwards timeline from a firm target‑school list.
If not mandatory, use AATest first; if mandatory, ring‑fence the optimal test window and preserve retake flexibility.
5. Preparation and sitting the test
Technical setup: it’s online — ensure stable device, quiet environment, and reliable internet.
Benchmarking: use a mock or AATest to pinpoint weaker areas in vocabulary/maths/reasoning.
Targets: aim for “9‑9‑9” and “C1 or above”, while prioritising overall profile strength and fit with each school’s expectations.
6. Making sense of the results
Parent Report: visible to families and advisors; shows the three section scores and the English level (999 max; C1 or above highest).
Full Report: accessible only to UKiset and schools; parents cannot view it.
You may nominate up to five schools to receive the Full Report (strict cap of five).
It offers deeper diagnostics: strengths/weaknesses, subject inclination, even indicative GCSE performance by subject.
Practical tip: let your advisor shape a sending strategy, then allocate those five Full Report slots precisely to maximise fit and impact.
7. Costs and scheduling
Mandatory: £295 UKiset fee.
Optional: any preparation courses or tutoring (not required).
Planning tip: integrate test timing with your application calendar, school application windows, and any school‑based assessments to avoid duplication or waste.
Choose wisely. Consult first. Act with precision.
