How can parents find the perfect balance between 'letting go' and 'offering support'? When a child decides to embark on the challenging path to medicine, what should a parent's role be? A strict mentor or a supportive partner? In this special session, we are honoured to have Jodie Wong, a current medical student at The University of Hong Kong, take the stage together with her parent. From the dual perspective of 'those who have been through it', they will candidly share their journey – a 'medical school dream quest' filled with challenges, decisions, and personal growth. From the independence and occasional solitude of studying abroad to the pressures and support systems of preparing for medical school, this promises to be a moving dialogue about trust, communication, and growing together. In this session, you will learn about: Preparation and Choices for Studying Abroad: Why did Jodie choose to attend the UK's top-ranking pre-university college, Cardiff Sixth Form College? How did this experience lay a solid foundation for her entry into a top medical school? The Transformation and Growth of the Parent-Child Relationship: When a child travels far from home to pursue their dream, how does the mode of communication and the nature of support between parent and child adapt and evolve? Advice for Future Medical Students' Parents: How can you become your child's strongest pillar of support, rather than a source of pressure? How should the parental mindset shift from being a 'planner' to a 'supporter'?
